Updated for 2025 - This is an examination of Lake Superior from Sault Ste. Marie (The Soo) to the Apostle Islands. While it is primarily intended as a guide for those who wish to cruise this 300-mile sector of the upper lake for the first time, it also offers helpful information for the more experienced boaters. It includes cruising directions and harbor details for the unusual and varied coastline with an emphasis is on how wonderful it is to explore. Cruising the South Shore is always an adventure.

Meet The Instructor

Niels Jensen
Niels Jensen, originally from Denmark, is a past Commodore of the Great Lakes Cruising Club, past president of the Great Lakes Foundation as well, plus is GLCC Port Captain for Stockton Island on Lake Superior. His home cruising waters are western Lake Superior.
