Joann Mead
Joann and her husband Chuck started their Great Lakes cruising with a Catalina 30 moored in Sandusky, Ohio. Their first Great Lakes' adventures were among the islands and bays of western Lake Erie. However, before long they succumbed to the desire to stretch their sea legs and with their new boat the "Blue Horizon", a Tartan 3700, they headed to Lake Huron's North Channel for a month-long cruise. Since then, they have completed a circumnavigation of four of the Great Lakes and have been awarded the GLCC's Admiral Bayfield Award. After spending several summer seasons living aboard, they decided they needed more creature comforts and upgraded to a Tartan 4300 "Moku Hale" which loosely means "Boat Home" in Hawaiian. They have logged more than 15,000 nautical miles cruising the all the Great Lakes.
Joann is the chair of the club’s Website and IT Committee and was the 2019 recipient of the GLCC’s Award of Merit. Joann spearheaded the 2020-21 upgrade of club’s website
