John has an extensive background and commitment to boating safety with over fifty years of experience in the not-for-profit field as a senior manager. He has served as Manager of Government and Special Programmes for the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron for the past 25 years. In that role he is responsible for government relations and the management of two national programmes mandated by Transport Canada, Office of Boating Safety and Industry Canada including the Pleasure Craft Courtesy Check Program. He is the Past Chair (servicing three terms) of the Canadian Safe Boating Council and also served as Co-Chair of the Recreational Boating Advisory Committee to the National Canadian Marine Advisory Council. John has wide experience as Chair or Executive member of over 45 community volunteer boards.
