Cruising the Down East Loop

Body
Looking for boating adventure with historic charms and dramatic scenery? Then you might be interested in the Down East Circle Route, a 3,000 mile loop from Montreal through the St. Lawrence River, around Nova Scotia, then New England and return via the Erie Canal. Join Gold Loopers, GLCC Admiral Bayfield Award winner and GLCC School instructors Deb and Mike Hervey as they share tips and suggestions for this Down East trip.

Would you like to learn more about the Down East Loop (also called the Down East Circle Route)?  Maybe you’re planning on doing the Loop in the future and want some tips? Are you looking for a cruise which combines favorable current and prevailing westerly breezes at your back?  Would you enjoy the opportunity to see seals, puffins and whales?  Do you want an adventure of a lifetime filled with fun, challenges and dramatic scenery?

GLCC members, Gold Loopers, GLCC Admiral Bayfield Award winner and recent Down East Loopers Deb and Mike Hervey will answer many of the most common questions about the loop in this totally new GLCC School webinar: What is it like to live together on a boat for a year?  How difficult is it to navigate the Erie Canal?  What was your biggest challenge? How does it feel to boat past the Statue of Liberty?

With more than 60% of the Down East Loop in Canadian waters, you'll have the opportunity to visit quaint seaside villages and vibrant French cities.  The sandy shores of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are favorites of beachgoers.  Additionally, the rolling hills provide the perfect environment for Nova Scotia's burgeoning wine industry.  At a comfortable cruising speed, this Loop can be completed in as little as 60 days, or more with side trips. Deb and Mike will be sharing tips and suggestions to take some of the mystery out of the trip to help you gain the confidence to do the Down East Loop too.
